Colorado – Oct ’24

Day 1

Newark, New Jersey – Denver, Colorado.

We landed in Denver at about 10pm and drove an hour north to our hotel in longmont. We chose to stay the night here as it is a bit closer to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Day 2

Longmont, Denver – Rocky Mountain – .

We drove for an hour to enter Rocky Mountain National Park. If you are visiting this national park in between May to Mid-October, please remember there is a timed entry system, which allows you to enter the park only before 9am or after 2pm without a reservation. Click here to check out the nps website. Also, reserve your spot for bear lake.

Rocky Mountain has 4 main entrance gates, but try to enter through Beaver Meadows or Fall River entrance station as these are closer to the main attractions. Since we did not have a reservation we wanted to reach the park entrance before 9am. We decided to enter via wild basin entrance as it was a bit closer in distance from our hotel, but this entrance was a dead end and had rough roads which cannot lead to any of the main attractions in the park. Thankfully, we had a bit of time, we drove towards Beaver Meadows entrance and got in at 9am.

After heading inside the park, we started driving towards trail ridge road submit which is the highest continous paved road in America, the views on this road are beautiful. We parked at Alpine visitors center, and hiked upto the submit. The hike is not very long, but the weather was very windy which made it hard to climb, the oxygen level is also very low this high on the mountains, so make sure to carry oxygen sprays. We had lunch in the restaurant inside Alpine visitor center, the views from the seating area were amazing and you take your own food inside too.

Next we started driving down towards our stay for the day, which was Georgetown.
